My mom has always had a passion for decorating and interior design. Each summer, she’d take my siblings and me to model home shows where we’d spend hours critiquing the houses, debating our favorites and staking claim over which room would be ours if we lived there.

Well, not much has changed. To this day, I can’t resist stopping at an open house or visiting a home show. While the German Village Haus and Garten Tour and the Victorian Village Tour of Homes are both favorites, this year I plan to add a tour to the rotation: BIA Parade of Homes .

The annual BIA Parade of Homes prides itself on “showcasing Central Ohio’s best and brightest in the area of homebuilding, home design and landscaping.” It runs July 24-August 8 at New Albany’s Ackerly Park. Spanning 16 days, this event allows even the busiest of us to make a trip out and uncover some new ideas and fresh inspiration for our own places.

Hours:
Mon.-Thur., noon-9 p.m.
Fri.-Sat., 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
Sun., 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Cost:
Ticket: $12 (children 12 and under are free)
Parking: $2 per car
Tickets can be purchased on-site, and $2 off coupons are available at all Union Savings Banks (click here to download a document that lists locations).

And, there will be special guests. HGTV fans, listen up!

  • Sunday, July 25, Frank Fontana from Design on a Dime will be at the Pavilion Stage for a Q&A and meet-and-greet session from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 31, Genevieve Gorder, host of Dear Genevieve and judge on HGTV Design Star, will join WBNS 10-TV Anchor Andrea Cambern for a Q&A session on the Parade Stage beginning at 2 p.m.
