Columbus Food Adventures offers up tasty tours and A GIVEAWAY!
By Melissa DeGraw Metz, Director, Membership
One of our tour stops:the Greener Grocer at the North Market
Columbus has a new way to experience some of our city’s great culinary offerings. Columbus Food Adventures launched in July and is owned and operated by Bethia Woolf, who runs three prominent Columbus food blogs.
Currently, Columbus Food Adventures offers three different tours that will expand your palate and leave your mouth watering: Short North Tour, Taco Trucks Tour and Alt Eats Tour (see the end of this post for details on how you can win one).
I was fortunate to be on one of the first Short North tours offered, along with my coworker, Scott. The tour began at the North Market at 11 a.m. and lasted a few hours. We walked a total of 1.5 miles and learned about the history of the area at specific stops on our route.
Our tour consisted of six unique stops:
1. The North Market’s Greener Grocer and Kitchen Little
2. Knead Urban Diner
3. le Chocoholique
4. Tasi Cafe
5. Rigsby’s Kitchen
6. Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams
At each stop we got a sampling of one of the house specialties and a visit from the establishment’s owner or manager. Our favorite items included farm-fresh heirloom tomatoes from the Greener Grocer in the North Market, truffled deviled eggs from Rigsby’s and a trio of seasonal offerings from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. If you go, note that the food sampled at each stop may vary.
We left the Short North tour educated, full and happy. We are now officially hooked on Columbus Food Adventures and after we watched the video below, we decided our next tour will be Taco Trucks.
Visit ColumbusFoodAdventures.com to learn more and book your own tour. Or at the very least…try to WIN ONE right now:

The alt eats tour is definitely on the top of my list - so much great ethnic food to explore and experience in the city! The Taco Truck tour is amazing and was a great indicator that Columbus Food Adventures is quickly establishing itself as a Columbus gem!

I frequent the Short North/North Market already but it does sound like there is a lot of neat information to be learned. I have never gotten brave enough to try a taco truck.
I think that if I was going on a tour, I would want to give the Alt Eats a try. Those stops sound fabulous and I have neer been to any of them!

Take me on the Short North tour, PLEASE! I moved to Cbus last Christmas after four years of traveling here for business… my nickname in my hometown was “the Mayorette” because I knew all the best local spots to take visitors. Once I know a community, I throw my heart and soul into promoting it!

The Short North tour sounds like fun!
September 8th, 2010 at 4:23 pm

I recently moved to Columbus after living in the middle of nowhere…you couldn’t even get a pizza delivered! I would love to see everything the Short North Tour has to offer (especially now that I’m steps away!)… Or the Taco Trucks - because really who can resist that?!

Knowing how un-adventurous my partner is, I would go for the Short North tour.
September 9th, 2010 at 9:53 am
Gotta go with the Taco Truck tour!!! We’re tempted to stop all the time, but don’t know if there are “good ones” and ones to steer clear of! Does it come with Margaritas???
September 9th, 2010 at 10:04 am
The Short North tour for sure! I have wanted to eat at many of these places since coming to school but haven’t had the time. Would love to experience the local favorites of the Short North.

I have been following and watching this venture get started on Twitter and Facebook and think it will be a wonderful addition in our city for tourism AND for our residents. I live a little north of the city (almost Delaware) and would LOVE LOVE LOVE taking the Taco Truck Tour to start. Of course, I would LOVE taking all of them.
