Pumpkin patches in Columbus and Central Ohio

You know fall has officially arrived when the leaves begin to change color, the weather starts to grow crisp and the smell of bonfires fill the air. And nothing symbolizes the season better than pumpkins. From pumpkin pie and pumpkin-flavored lattes to jack-o-lanterns and Halloween decorations, pumpkins are everywhere by the time October rolls around.

Since it’s never too early to start your search for that perfect pumpkin, I have compiled a list of Central Ohio pumpkin farms. Most offer a combination of pick-your-own and pre-harvested pumpkins, as well as holiday-themed activities ranging from hayrides to petting zoos.

Circle S Farms
Where: 9015 London Groveport Rd., Grove City, OH 43123
When: Daily, 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m.
How much: $8 per person (admission includes a hayride, fun barn, petting zoo, corn/sunflower mazes and a bale cave), $3.50 per pumpkin

Devine Farms
Where: 672 National Rd., Hebron, OH 43025
When: Mon.-Sat., 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sun., noon-6 p.m.
How much: FREE parking & admission,  $1 per ticket or $14 for an All Day Pass/Stamp (most activities require 1-2 tickets – click here for activities info)

Hidden Creek Farms
Where: 581 S. Galena Rd., Sunbury, OH 43074
When: Daily, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
How much: $5 per person (admission includes a hayride, straw maze, farm animals, pumpkin slide and more)

Hoffman’s Farm Market
Where: 800 Hilliard-Rome Rd., Columbus, OH 43228
When: Saturdays and Sundays in October, 1-5 p.m.
How much: $3.50 per person for hayrides, $0.25/lb for pumpkins

Jacquemin Farms

When: Mon.-Sat., 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sun., 1-6 p.m.
How Much: $1 hayrides to the pumpkin patch, $5 admission to the Kiddie Playland, ages 10 and under (admission includes a straw maze, grain boxes, giant air toys and free hayrides)

How much: $2 hayrides, $7 Barn Pass admission (admission includes mini zip lines, the pumpkin jump, a corn box and more)

When: Weekends, 11 a.m.-dark; Weekdays, 5 p.m.-dark

    Glass Axis is hosting our 4th Annual Pumpkin Patch October 7, 8 and 9, with hundreds of colorful glass pumpkins created by Central Ohio artists for sale and workshops throughout the weekend.

    Event hours are Friday, noon to 7pm and Saturday & Sunday, 9am to 4pm.

    The event features an opportunity to make your very own glass pumpkin! Our skilled artists/instructors offer workshops in both hot and mosaic glass. Workshops run Friday from 1 to 6pm and on the weekend from 11am to 3pm. Solid hot glass pumpkin workshops are $50 and suited for ages 12 and up; while mosaic pumpkin tiles are $10 and appropriate for ages 4 and up with adult supervision. First come, first served; no registration required.
