Indian Restaurants in Columbus – Part 2
Yesterday, I posted about three great Indian restaurants in Columbus. But there are so many great spots, that the topic required a second post! So here are three more restaurants where you can get your fix of awesome Indian cuisine.
Indian Oven Tandoori is the specialty at Indian Oven, a spot on the south end of downtown with a modern, minimalist decor and full bar. Service is very attentive, and both meat and vegetarian dishes are flavorfully infused with spice and smokiness from the tandoor. The goat rezala is a standout, and the samosas and complimentary papadams (lentil wafers with a spicy coriander chutney) are great, too. The vegetarian options are a bit limited, but the baigan bhartha (spiced, roasted eggplant) is stellar.
Aab Aab, on Grandview Avenue, specializes in Northern Indian cuisine: lots of delicious wheat breads, tandoori dishes and plenty of lamb, chicken and fish entrees as well. The vegetarian options are diverse – the saag choley (chick peas in a spicy spinach cream sauce) is my go-to take-out order – it’s rich, satisfying and complex. The dining experience is white-tablecloth upscale, but the prices for most entrees are affordable, in the $10-$13 range. Portions are generous, and the basmati rice is my favorite in the city. Aab has a full bar and imaginative cocktail menu, making it a great spot for a celebration.
Reethika I’ve heard great things about Reethika, on Federated Blvd. in Dublin, right next to Japanese powerhouse Kihachi, but it’s a trek from downtown, so I haven’t had a chance to try it yet. Reethika serves the cuisine of Hyderabad, a city in southern India, but unlike the other southern Indian restaurants on this list, there are vegetarian and meat dishes on the menu.
