Sneak Peek: Hilton Columbus Downtown
We generally don’t post about construction sites on the Experience Columbus blog, but I recently had the opportunity to tour the nearly-complete Hilton Columbus Downtown – which will add 532 rooms to the downtown landscape. I was fascinated both by how quickly the building has gone up and by the coolness of seeing something so huge getting built.
The hotel won’t be open for business until mid-October, but these photos were too cool not to share.
The entrance of the new hotel features a lobby with a grand spiral staircase and marble-clad columns. Local art will grace the walls.
The center of the hotel houses a 10-story glass-covered atrium, making the space very bright and airy. The floor here will house the Hilton’s restaurant, which will be helmed by local chef Bill Glover.
It’s amazing to see the size of the kitchen that’s needed to serve a hotel with more than 500 guestrooms. Fridges, stoves, ovens and sinks – all stainless steel – are being installed.
The guestrooms are getting their finishing touches, as well. The rooms feature sunny views crisp linens and subtle lighting (see the soft glow above the headboard?)
The bathrooms are starting to look luxurious as well – glass tile, original art and barn doors complete the look.
