As the end of October nears, there are several activities still to do to get you in the Halloween spirit! So grab your friends and family, put on your crazy costumes and try out these three spooky yet spectacular events happening in Central Ohio!
1. HighBall Halloween is one of the Midwest’s most anticipated Halloween celebrations with a mash-up of Carnivale, Mardi Gras, Day of the Dead, Halloween and a couture New York runway show! The festivities are held directly on High Street in the blocks connecting the famed Short North Arts District to the Arena District and Downtown Columbus. To commemorate its sixth anniversary, HighBall is expanding to two days – Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25 and 26.
The experience begins tonight with dancing in the street, bands, stage shows and designer competitions. The fun starts back up at noon on Saturday with an “Ohio State vs. Penn State Tailgate Party” with JUMBO-TRON telecasts of games running all day and stage performances by Yeah Babies, The Professors , Illicit Kitty , The Fabulous Johnson Brothers, Nina West and a live broadcast by CD1o2.5 featuring DJ Ed Frances. In addition, there will be the “Kids’ Festival” with activities for children and families, followed by the outrageous “Dogtober Howl-o-ween” pet costume contest. Saturday night returns to dancing in the streets and the general public costume contests where thousands of dollars in cash and prizes are on the line. Trust me, your family and friends will die for this whimsical celebration!
2. Always wanted to shoot a paintball gun but were afraid of trying it? ZombiePark is the all the fun of paintball without getting shot at or dirty. The family can shoot live zombies and other strategic targets to help exterminate the Zombie Infestation of 2013! First, take some practice shots at the Z.T.R.T.F. (Zombie Target Range Test Facility). Then, board the Z.H.V (Zombie Hunting Vehicle), take your position in front of your zombie exterminator paintball gun, and be driven through the woods of SplatterPark as you embark on your mission. ZombiePark runs rain or shine with covered hayride trailers. ZombiePark is open Fridays 6 p.m. – 11 p.m. and Saturdays 5 p.m – 11 p.m. from Oct. 25 – Nov. 2! Order presale tickets online to guarantee your place in line!
