New Ohio laws have allowed bars, restaurants and breweries to bottle and sell cocktails to go, which has opened a whole new world of delightful libations you can sip at home.
Mouton
Mouton sells bottled cocktails complete with garnishes. The menu ranges from classics like an Old Fashioned, to tiki drinks, to house inventions like the Secret in the Garden with gin, pomegranate, Earl Grey, lime and lavender bitters.
Watershed Distillery
Even before all the shutdowns, Watershed has been producing a bottled Old Fashioned built around its house bourbon. In addition to this and all their bottled spirits, they’re selling Cocktails at Home kits that help you mix up your own libations.
Antiques on High
This sister brewery to Seventh Son produces sour and wild beers, but is also known for its stellar cocktail program. The Village Buck, for instance, blends bourbon, Amaro Montenegro, ginger, citrus, strawberry soda and bitters, while the Doppelganger mixes Cascade-hopped tequila with Aperol and grapefruit. Pick up cocktails at Antiques on High or through Seventh Son’s delivery service.
The Crest
This Clintonville gastropub has opened for carryout only, serving to-go meals, packaged picnic kits and perfect-for-summer crushed ice cocktails.
The Light of Seven Matchsticks / Natalie’s Coal Fired Pizza
The Light of Seven Matchsticks and the two Natalie’s locations – Worthington and Grandview – are selling different bottled cocktails. As always, the menu is fun and inventive, like the Mama Needs a Margarita or the summery Backyard BBQ Breakup with rye, watermelon, gentian aperitif, citrus, habanero and mezcal.
Ambrose & Eve
Like many restaurants, Ambrose & Eve has shifted to carryout and patio dining. For carryout, they offer house-made cocktails like an Aperol spritz, an Old Fashioned, or the Murder Hornet with Espolòn Reposado tequila, honey, lemon and jalapeno.
The Bottle Shop
While the cocktail bar at The Bottle Shop is temporarily closed, to-go cocktails are available in the coolers on the market side. Just purchase and serve over ice! Try the Big Melon Energy, built around honeydew-infused tequila, or the Purple Rain with gin and crème de violette.
Huli Huli Tiki Lounge
At its downtown Powell digs, Huli Huli takes you on a tropical escape, and now you can bring it home with you it. Order up a Painkiller, Mai Tai, Blue Hawaii or Sloe Boat to Mexico cocktail to go.
The Market Italian Village
The Market has pivoted into a summer ice cream shop concept called Dairy Dose, complete with corn dogs, sandwiches and fries. On the menu are boozy cocktails like the Electric Lemonade Shakeup with bourbon, peach, lemon and shandy, or the Acid Freak, a rotating tiki-style cocktail made with Hoof Hearted Brewing seltzers.
Law Bird
Law Bird in the Brewery District pivoted quickly from a cocktail bar to a corner carryout, with a case full of bottled cocktails. Try a South High Manhattan, The Kala Tour, a Cherry Crush or any of the weekly specials.
High Bank Distillery
In addition to selling cocktail mixers, High Bank has crafted its own to-go cocktails using house spirits, like the New Statesman with Statehouse Gin, Aperol and mint syrup, or the High C with High Bank vodka and Zest Juice Co.’s Vitamin Cbus.
Giuseppe’s Ritrovo
This Bexley Italian favorite sells bottled versions of classic cocktails, from Manhattans to Cosmopolitans to French 75s.
Wolf’s Ridge Brewing
In addition to its full food and beer delivery/carryout services, Wolf’s Ridge sells a selection of creative bottled cocktails. Currently they offer drinks like the Smoked Barley, which riffs on a smoked German lager with bourbon, Scotch and barley syrup, or the Hopped Classic, a rum Negroni reminiscent of a hoppy IPA.
