Location: German Village
Address: 525 S. Fourth St.

Juergen's is not only a house of fine pastries, it is also a restaurant and delicatessen. The German backerei, once visited by Arnold Schwarzenegger, is right in the heart of German Village. Run for the past 40 years by Rosemarie Keidel, a German immigrant, Juergen's is a well known landmark truly authentic to her heritage. She provides a comfortable, unique atmosphere of Old World charm while serving traditional German dinners such at Saurbraten, Bratwursts, Schnitzels, Goulash and Spatzle.

All bakery goods are homemade using recipes that have been handed down through the generations of Rosemarie's family; both her father and her grandfather were bakers. They are made with the finest ingredients and contain no preservatives. A variety of traditional pastries such as Strudel, Torten, Linzer and fresh baked crusty breads are also available for catering. Rosemarie herself recommends the Bienenstich, which she describes as coffee cake with roasted almonds, double Bavarian cream and honey.

Juergen's is the next best thing to being in Germany. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and is open Tues.-Thur., 8 a.m.-8 p.m.; Fri.-Sat., 8 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sun., 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Parking lot available next door.
