For some people, the summer just isn't complete without taking the opportunity to hit the links. For the spectator, fans from all over the United States converge on Muirfield Village Golf Club after Memorial Day to see the PGA's elite pursue a championship at The Memorial Tournament. Columbus also has a museum dedicated to the course's creator and the tournament's host - native son and PGA champion Jack Nicklaus.

Meanwhile, in July the recently renovated Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University hosts the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational, a prime opportunity to see up-and-coming golfers.

Visitors who wish to experience the links themselves have more than 100 public and private courses to choose from in the Greater Columbus area. Many of the courses in Columbus were conceived by some of the greatest architects in the game - including Jack Kidwell and John Cook. A number of them also rank among the best in the United State, according to Golf Digest.
