Sales efforts target key customers

Experience Columbus promoted Columbus as a destination for conventions and leisure visitors at the shows listed below in February-April. Read more to see how the exposure at these shows can benefit Columbus in the future.

BankTravel Conference

Feb. 7-9, Milwaukee, Wis.
BankTravel is the nation’s leading organization of Bank Loyalty Program Directors, serving 3,000 banks and financial institutions nationwide. Columbus secured 10 qualified leads for future business.

Heartland Travel Showcase

Feb. 18-21, Columbus
Columbus hosted 140 tour operators and 650 exhibitors at Heartland, the largest regional motorcoach marketplace in the United States. Columbus secured 33 qualified leads for future business. Twenty-seven tour operators stayed in Columbus Feb. 21-24 for a familiarization tour of many of the city’s top attractions.

Hospitality Community Sales Blitz

March 23-24, Columbus
The Experience Columbus’ sales team joined with the Greater Columbus Convention Center and 18 local hotel representatives to contact more than 700 industry professionals and event planners. This concentrated sales effort resulted in 92  “expressions of interest,” representing both short-term and long-term bookings varying from 50 up to 10,000 attendees and totaling 239,000 potential room nights.

African American Travel Conference

April 20-22, Niagara Falls, N.Y.
The African American Travel Conference attracts 2,500 travel planners serving the African American community. Columbus representatives met with 72 travel planners, resulting in 36 leads for future business.

D.C. Luncheon program

April 27, Washington, D.C.
Experience Columbus hosted nine clients and two representatives from the Hilton International sales team. Franklin County Deputy County Administrator Erik Janas also attended the luncheon. Held several times during the year, the luncheon program gives Experience Columbus sales staff and local community leaders the opportunity to meet with potential clients and share what Columbus has to offer.
