Holiday Travel Advisory

The Columbus community has been able to safety reopen amidst the COVID-19 pandemic by ensuring proper health and safety protocols are in place, including a citywide mask mandate. Currently, a statewide curfew is in effect from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Thursday, Dec. 10 to help slow the spread of COVID-19. The Franklin County stay-at-home advisory, in effect until Dec. 18, asks citizens not to leave their residences or travel outside of Ohio unless it is absolutely necessary. American Society of Association Executives comes to Columbus

Have you heard about ASAE? The American Society of Association Executives is bringing their Annual Meeting & Exposition to Columbus in August 2019 and it’s a pretty big deal for our city and our economy. Here’s what it means for Columbus and what you can do to help!

By the numbers:

  • Columbus will host 5,000 association executives, meeting professionals and suppliers over four days, Aug. 10-13, 2019
  • We will fill 16,800 hotel room nights
  • ASAE's members manage leading trade associations, individual membership societies and voluntary organizations across the U.S. and in nearly 50 countries.
  • The city will generate $16 million in direct visitor spending, with the potential to book as much as half a billion dollars’ worth of future conventions and events

Visitor spending during a meeting or convention in our city supports a wide range of local businesses and jobs, while taxes generated will support destination marketing, the arts, housing and human services.

Hosting ASAE in Columbus will be a defining moment of our community. Many attendees have never been to Columbus and have no idea about all our city has to offer. We need your help to showcase the best of Columbus, highlighting the city’s unmatched spirit of collaboration, innovation and diversity along with providing a top-notch visitor experience that make us a preferred destination.

Now, we’re asking for your help in setting Columbus as gold-standard for visitor satisfaction.

Become a CTA

The Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA) program is a national certification and a respected professional achievement. Through this program, frontline employees, city ambassadors and volunteers will improve their knowledge of Greater Columbus, learn to craft answers to frequently asked visitor questions and develop a better understanding of their role in enhancing the tourism economy and visitor satisfaction. To become certified, you will be mailed some pre-read materials, participate in a 4 hour class and take an open-book exam.

Volunteer with Columbus

This event requires collaboration and spirit from community volunteers and businesses to show off the best of Columbus. Volunteers will be needed for a variety of events from Aug. 9-14. The official volunteer shifts are now available.
