Get your soccer scarf ready and rest your voice, because the Columbus Crew is back in action! Their 2014 season opened with a 3-0 win against D.C. United back on March 8 and the team hopes to carry the momentum with them this weekend when they face Philadelphia at 6 p.m. on Saturday (tickets here.)
Did you know that the Columbus Crew has seven homegrown players on its roster for the 2014 season? The team tied the league lead for homegrown players back in January when they signed Ross Friedman and Matt Walker. Other homegrown players include Chad Barson, Matt Lampson, Ben Speas, Wil Trapp and Matt Wiet.
Not only does the team have some new faces, but fans will also notice stadium improvements. There are new video boards on the main scoreboard and new ribbon displays. The stadium also has expanded concourses and a revamped Crew Kicker Plaza. Most importantly, there is a new line of Crew merchandise available so you can literally wear your love for the Crew on your sleeve.
If you are just too excited to wait until Saturday to get your Crew fix, head over to the Crewsmas Eve party at Fourth Street Patio Bar and Grill tonight from 7-11 p.m. If you would rather celebrate the day of, get all your gear together and head over to the Crew Stadium early to tailgate in the parking lots. There are nearly 4,000 paved spots available, so you’ll be sure to get the perfect tailgate spot.
There are still season ticket plans available if you have been procrastinating. The Crew’s ticket plans include full season memberships and mini plans to make the most out of the season. Check out the schedule here and pick your games. Get ready to be massive Columbus!
