The Hills Market Downtown: The Hills Market Worthington you have come to know and love opened its hipper, downtown location this spring and it is a perfect source for everything local. Besides carrying fresh local produce, this bodega-like gem near the CCAD campus is a fully stocked market that also offers freshly prepared grab and go items.
The Greener Grocer: This merchant found inside the historic North Market is a great place to pick-up local produce as well as other locally sourced items such as dairy products, honey, maple syrup, flour, grains, and much more. If you prefer they do your shopping for you, just sign up for their weekly fresh Market Bag; a perfect way to taste a kaleidoscope of local seasonal items from numerous farmers and producers.
Near East Side Cooperative Market: Managed by its members, this co-op market in the Olde Town East area of Columbus entitles its members to discounts and provides an outlet to help their neighbors access healthy, affordable, local food. Don’t worry, even if you are not a member, this market is open to the public and their website is a great resource for delicious recipes featuring local ingredients.
Whole Foods Market Upper Arlington: The new Whole Foods UA opened this March just west of The Ohio State University campus off Lane Avenue. Besides being a one-stop-shop for all your various grocery shopping needs, they carry a wide selection of locally sourced foods. If you see a tag under a food item displaying “From Around Here" you know it will show exactly how many miles it traveled to Columbus.
Celebrate Local: Although this store began as a pop-up shop, it has been going strong since moving into its permanent location at Easton Town Center. Not only does it carry local cheese, meat, sauces, spices, and spreads, it also has an amazing all-Ohio sourced beer, wine and spirits selection. It is a hot spot showcasing local fare and one of the best locations to shop for my favorite gift to give, food!
The Clintonville Community Market: This quaint member-owned grocery store tucked into the residential streets of Clintonville is a staunch supporter of local farmers and vendors. Spot the “I’m Local!” signs all throughout the store indicating locally grown and produced foods.
