If you find yourself looking to spruce up your home or if you’re desperately trying to find that “special” piece that will bring a whole room together, you need to head to Clintonville. I recently made the trip myself and visited four of my new favorite home décor hot spots: Elm & Iron, SoBo Style, Cottage Street, and mix:HOME. If you’re a visitor to town and worried about finding your way to four stores, never fear, they are all located on High Street and within blocks of each other!
First up is SoBo Style, which prides itself on “functional treasures for every room”, and let me tell you, that is no understatement. I admired a beautiful wood hutch (if only it would fit in my apartment!), jewelry, fun lamps, and neighborhood signs with the likes of Clintonville, German Village and the Short North. Sobo Style is also the perfect place to find a unique host or hostess gift that will ensure you’re invited back!
One store up is Cottage Street, a quaint store full of refurbished antiques and modern interpretations of antiques. Similar to all of the stores, Cottage Street is a wonderful shop to find that perfect piece that will add a little oomph to your room. Maybe it’s colorful dining room chairs, a small end table or a clock that your mantel has always needed.
Continue your way down High St. to Elm & Iron, which specializes in vintage home goods. The first thing that caught by eye was a wall of decorative coat/key hangers. My favorite was a face with a mustache, which if you look closely, you can see in the picture. As you continue into the store every table and shelf has something different. From pillows and kitchen towels to old locker sets and vintage medicine bottles – you’ll find it here!
Finally, I went to mix:HOME, which has its specialty within a perfect balance of vintage and modern. No pun intended, but they had a great mix of large furniture pieces like stunning dining room tables, leather chairs, great accent décor pieces and various coffee table books. And the cherry on top was that they had a nice little sale going on!
So, what are you waiting for? Spring is officially here, and these stores are your one-stop-shops for that inner HGTV personality that’s been dying to get out!
