When I think candy and Columbus, Anthony-Thomas Chocolates is the first company to come to mind. Opened in 1952, Anthony-Thomas is a long standing Columbus institution. They have a number of retail shops throughout Columbus, but the fan favorite is the factory tour. Located just off I-270 on the west side of Columbus, the factory tours are available every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. It will be your very own Charlie and the Chocolate Factory moment as you watch the factory produce 30,000 pounds of chocolate per shift.
Another mouth-watering gem is Pure Imagination Chocolatier located in the North Market and on Grandview Avenue. Not only can you sample their chocolate masterpieces, but they can also make customized orders for a special friend or an upcoming business event.
If you’re looking for the candy you enjoyed as a kid, try Moxie’s Gifts, Candy, and Party Room located on High Street in Clintonville. They boast a 40-foot wall full of hard-to-find candy like Sky Bars and Bit O' Honey plus your regular favorites.
Still need to satisfy your sweet tooth? Take a stroll through historic German Village and visit Schmidt’s Fudge Haus and Winans Fine Chocolates. These stops are perfect because no one can say anything about all the sampling since you’re walking off those calories!
