The Crest Gastropub was once-upon-a-time a Clintonville neighborhood dive bar, situated at the corner of Crestview and Indianola. Now it's ditched its dive-y roots and become a destination for foodies and drink aficionados alike.
It’s small but cozy inside, and offers a spacious patio outside lined with plants, many of which are actually used as ingredients on the menu, and many more of which are grown on the restaurant’s rooftop garden.
The Crest features 58 beers on draft with a ton of hard-to-find local selections available, and even more beers available by the bottle. They also serve house-made barrel aged cocktails and classic cocktails, and even have a couple wines and meads on tap, so there's an adult beverage for every taste. During happy hour, all drafts are half-off, and beer bottles and liquor are 25% off.
As far as the food, a modest selection of delicious sandwiches, salads and burgers join a handful of carefully concocted appetizers, including one that continues to haunt my dreams: flash-fried goat cheese balls drizzled in honey. Want. More.
The Crest Gastropub is located at 2855 Indianola Ave.
