CMH Fashion Week Highlights Local Talent
October 8, 2013
Columbus is the Midwest's fashion hotspot, and there's no better way to see it for yourself than to visit this week and take in CMH Fashion Week. One of many great events throughout the year that celebrate local fashion design (see Highball, the Columbus College of Art and Design and Alternative Fashion Mob) CMH Fashion Week brings local talent to the forefront.
New this year is a Bridal Fashion Show, on Friday, Oct. 11, in which five local designers will show their looks at the Sheraton Capital Square.
CMH Fashion Week will culminate with a runway show featuring the work of 16 local designers. The Finale Runway Show is this Saturday, Oct. 12 at Genoa Park, just outside of COSI. Headlining the show is Nary Manivong, and Laotian-American designer who grew up in Columbus. He has been heralded by Women’s Wear Daily as one of twelve designers to watch and was also nominated by Fashion Group International for the Rising Star Women’s Ready-to-Wear Award in 2009 and 2010. Manivong is also the star in the highly touted film documentary, DRESSED, which chronicles his story from homelessness to star fashion designer. There also is an after-party at Hollywood Casino.
More fashion events are taking place throughout the week and beyond - so make sure you don't miss it!
