Experiencing Columbus during the Arnold Sports Festival
March 1, 2011
This week, we're here to help you find a few extra ways to experience Columbus. If the evenings bring you some downtime, check out these popular attractions.
Thursday Just a five minute ride from the Greater Columbus Convention Center you’ll find the Franklin Park Conservatory , home to Cocktails at the Conservatory on Thursday nights. This unique happy hour features botanically-themed cocktails along with fantastic hors d'oeuvres. What sets it apart from other nightlife is the setting inside the Palm House, which gives the atmosphere of a tropical rainforest. Combine that with an award-winning LED light installation and great music for a wonderful evening.
5:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. $10 21 and older
Friday Shadowbox Live is a sketch comedy and rock 'n' roll theater located in Easton Town Center, about a 20 minute drive from the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Friday’s performance is The Naked Truth - a little racy and raw, it blends reality and fantasy into a comedy that’s sure to make you laugh.

Saturday The Short North Arts District is a trendy neighborhood of galleries, locally owned shops and restaurants that starts on the north side of the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The infamous Short North Gallery Hop takes place on the first Saturday evening of every month; the galleries and shops stay open late and the nightlife is amazing.
Check out Northstar Café for healthy smoothies made fresh in front of you, Torso for Clear Shots (a unique power drink) and Terra Gallery , which will be featuring torso sculptures hammered out of pewter. The sculptures feature famous competitors like Latisha Wilder, a successful Figure International competitor at the Arnold Sports Festival.
Parking: Valet stations every block along High Street in the Short North starting at $10, and you'll find lots of other options covered here .
