We were delighted last week to see that the Food Network's new show, Top 5, selected Columbus' own Los Guachos Taqueria as the purveyor of one of the five best tacos in America! We've loved this spot for a long time, and we're excited that these delicious tacos al pastor got the praise they deserve. Here's the whole story - make sure you add this suburban spot to your next Columbus trip!MWL Culinary 2015 Low Res.pdf

Los Guachos Taqueria has grown from a shiny food truck in the middle of a parking lot to a strip mall on a busy road, but al pastor remains the draw. The tantalizing pork slowly turns on a rotisserie as juice from a whole, skinned pineapple oozes down the sides, marinating the meat.

Cooks shave off slices of the marinated pork to star in almost every dish, including tacos, quesadillas, tortas (Mexican sandwiches) and burritos. Los Guachos made its reputation on tacos, so start there. The pork comes piled on corn tortillas topped with diced onion, shredded cilantro and tiny slices of pineapple.

MWL Culinary 2015 Low Res.pdfNot a fan of pork? Other fillings include pollo (chicken), suadero (beef brisket), lengua (beef tongue), tripa (tripe) and the Sunday special cabeza de res (veal head). Cool the spice with drinks of horchata (a sweetened rice milk poured over ice) or one of the Mexican Jarritos sodas, which come in mango, lime, tamarind and apple.
