Highball is an explosion of creativity that happens once a year. High St. is closed down and 20,000 people from all over travel to Columbus in their best most over-the-top costumes. It is a little bit carnival, a little bit mardi gras, and a lot of Halloween. Like a perfect cocktail these three themes blend to make the most popular Halloween event in the Midwest.

Several professional designers have been working tirelessly to create costumes for Costume Couture Fashion Showdown, a run way show of some of the most elaborate, intricate and creative costumes a human can imagine.

There is also a public costume contest and anyone can participate. So if you think your costume is extraordinary you can strut it down the catwalk.

There is even an opportunity for you and your loyal and decorated pooch to compete in a costume contest called Dogtober.

I could go on, but with Highball pictures speak louder than words. I will be dressed as a buffoon…See you there!

Festivities start this Saturday, Oct. 27, at 5 p.m. at High and Vine outside the convention center.
