Columbus is never dry on things to do when it comes to New Year’s Eve plans, especially in the department of live music. 2019 seems different, however. For starters, one of the biggest bands to be associated with our city that’s not named twenty one pilots will be pillaging through Columbus for three sold-out nights to close out the year. Two other venues will be throwing parties with big-name acts as headliners, and those are just of the shows that also have local ties. On top of that, three celebrations on this list are keeping it strictly local this year. There is something for everybody here.

Below you can check out a list of six concerts that will be taking place in Columbus that you can ring in 2020 with.

CAAMP By and By Tour @ Newport Music Hall

I usually try not to post on events that have already been sold out, but if you can still find a way to make it to any of CAAMP’s three end-of-the-year run shows, try to do everything in your power to make it one night. The Columbus-born folk project has become widely popular over the past few years and are now riding into town off the success of their second album, By and By. CAAMP will be at Newport Music Hall on December 27 and 28 before closing out 2019 on New Year’s Eve. Locals The Cordial Sins, RADATTACK, Doc Robinson, and Parker Louis will be opening on various days throughout the three-night run.

Time: Doors 8 p.m. | Address: 1722 N. High St. | Admission: Check resale

The Deeptones Funky New Year’s Eve @ Dick’s Den

The Deeptones will be bringing the funk on New Year’s Eve to one of the Columbus venues best suited for it: Dick’s Den. A Columbus jazz institution since the 1960s, Dick’s Den is a Columbus bucket list place to catch a show at. So why not make it NYE? The Deeptones, who are more than 10 members deep, will be pumping funk all night long to make sure you’re dancing into 2020.

Time: 10 p.m. | Address: 2417 N. High St. | Admission: Free

Papadosio NYE 2019/2020 @ The Bluestone

Asheville-by-way-of-Athens electronic jam band Papadoiso will also be bringing a multiple-night extravaganza to Columbus for NYE. The popular festival act has a strong Columbus following, so it’s no surprise that the group chose the capital city to celebrate 2020 in. The two-night run will kick off on December 30 with a blast of funk from locals BareFuzz. paris_monster and Desert Dwellers will be providing additional support to three Papadosio sets, two of which will take place on the 31st.

Time: 8 p.m. | Address: 583 E. Broad St. | Admission: $25 single night / $45 two nights / $100 VIP two nights

The Worn Flints NYE Celebration @ Woodlands Tavern

Ring in the New Year in true psychedelic rock fashion with The Worn Flints. The three-piece group is closing out the year at Woodlands Tavern after dropping a very successful and reflective record in the first quarter of the year. The pop-rock stylings of Girl Fox will also be making an appearance after the group dropped a couple of projects this year as well. The Outside Voices will be coming in from Kent.

Time: 8 p.m. | Address: 1200 W. 3rd Ave. | Admission: $10

Chronoclasm @ Otherworld

In what has become one of the coolest venues in the Midwest, Otherworld has been attracting some major names over the past few months. Animal Collective, Dan Deacon and TOBACCO are just a few of the marquee acts that have already made their way into one of Columbus’ most creative spaces. So, of course, they would be throwing an NYE party. Renowned DJ/singer/multi-instrumentalist Mija and bass-heavy DJ Bleep Bloop will be headling this certain affair. One of the exciting things about this Otherworld performance with two well-known names is their pairing with local industrial DJ risik, who has already made a pretty big name for herself.

Time: 8:30 p.m. | Address: 5819 Charity Dr. | Admission: $30 (on a sliding scale up to $40)

Funk Worthy New Year’s Eve @ Brothers Drake

Brothers Drake is one of the classier places where you can celebrate New Year’s Eve. And what better local music to get you in the mood to do so than Funk Worthy and Clemens and Co. The latter definitely knows a thing or two about getting people into the holiday spirit. (Check out some info on their annual Advent Calendar if you want proof.) The former sure knows a thing or two about getting the party started with an eclectic number of influences that can please almost anyone. After the ball drop, a DJ set will close out the night. The cost of admission includes one drink at the bar.

Time: Doors 8:30 p.m. | Address: 26 E. 5th Ave. | Admission: $30
