We are delighted to tell you there's a brand new choice in overnight accommodations in Columbus - The Le Méridien Columbus, The Joseph, opened for business today, and we can tell right away that it will be a huge success. Thoughtful design, luxurious amenities, distinctive local touches and most importantly a commitment to art make this brand new hotel a true gem.

SC1918-The Joseph Hotel-Interiors-01-19-15-191The hotel is a new build, at the southern end of the Short North Arts District, but it's architecturally integrated into the neighborhood so well that it feels like it's always been there. Any window you look out gives you a brand new view of Columbus - whether it's eye-level with the tops of the neighborhood's iconic arches or a long-distance view of Ohio State's campus. Guests are in the heart of the Short North's culinary, fashion and art scenes, and across the street from the city's newest modern art museum, The Pizzuti Collection. Your key card to The Joseph unlocks complementary access to this venerable gallery!

SC1918-The Joseph Hotel-Interiors-01-19-15-107 - CopyAs soon as you walk into the lobby, you'll see art is everywhere. A huge cartoon-inspired graphic installation from artist KAWS graces the area, and the whole second floor serves as a gallery with rotating works from the adjacent Pizzuti Collection. Each guest room features between three and eight pieces of art - 31 images curated from 15 different Ohio artists are featured around the hotel, and prints in limited editions of 50 copies each are available for purchase. Even the wall coverings are distinctive - artist Almond Zigmund designed wallpaper accents that surround each guest room door.

Soul Bar, in the lobby serves Illy coffee by day and handcrafted cocktails by night. Eight tiled screens display news and/or video art throughout the day. Don't miss a chance to try the signature eclair, created by German Village patisserie Pistacia Vera, and flavored with anise and lemon. This dainty but decadent treat is only available at The Joseph. And don't overlook the shortbread cookies, also from Pistacia Vera, that are standard in each guest room.

In its one week of operation it has already made waves in the Columbus dining scene. Room service and catering at The Joseph is expertly handled by Cameron Mitchell as well.

There are a lot more special treats in store for guests and locals alike. Guests have access to a third-floor gym that we'll venture to say has incredible views of downtown, and the hotel is on track to open its spa suites shortly. Both locals and guests can book spa services at The Joseph, and use of these suites is included in the cost.

We hope you'll visit Columbus soon, and try The Joseph. Even if you aren't staying there, you are welcome to check out the art!
