Why Creative Types Love Columbus
April 14, 2014
Columbus' unabashed creative spirit is found in every corner of the city. It's been attracting artists for over 200 years now, and all this creativity has led to some awesome galleries, museums and exhibits. Here are some of our favorite creative hotspots:
The Short North Arts District Gallery Hop - With dozens of galleries and non-traditional exhibit spaces, live music and street entertainment, packed clubs and bustling restaurants, the first Saturday of each month is Columbus' favorite night to celebrate all things art.
Columbus Museum of Art - Housing an outstanding collection of late nineteenth and early twentieth-century American and European modern art, spectacular examples of Impressionism, German Expressionism, and Cubism, and extraordinary regional collections, the museum also presents traveling special exhibitions.
Columbus Arts Festival - Held every year in June, this festival turns the downtown Riverfront into a huge outdoor canvas with more than 300 exhibiting artists, hundreds of performing artists and an annual patron audience of more than 450,000.
Wexner Center for the Arts - Whether it's on canvas, on screen or on stage, the innovative and internationally recognized programming you'll find at the Wex is always extraordinary, thought-provoking and not to be missed.
Canzani Center Gallery - Located on the downtown campus of the Columbus College of Art and Design, Canzani hosts curated exhibitions as well as exhibitions that showcase the work of the college's students and faculty.
