In this Thurber House program, Annabelle Gurwitch, actor, humorist, bestselling author, and Thurber Prize finalist, discusses her new collection of essays, Wherever You Go, There They Are: Stories About My Family You Might Relate To. In the book, she introduces her dysfunctional family, which includes bootleggers, gamblers, and philanderers. With her wry wit, she explores the inescapable realities of life with her relatives, as well as her flirtations with surrogate families such as theater folk, pet people, and the ladies who brunch at Tel Aviv Gardens Retirement Home. Tickets are $25, or $20 for students and seniors. All tickets are $25 at the door. The reading and Q&A will last about an hour, with a book signing and a punch and cookies reception to follow.
