John Adams paints a surreal portrait of Madame Mao in his haunting foxtrot for orchestra, while Anton├¡n Dvo┼Ö├ík reaches deep into his Czech heritage to create an earthy series of melodies both energized and whimsical in his Slavonic Dances. Gavin will explore the music of another young talent, Felix Mendelssohn, who wrote the G Minor Piano Concerto at barely 20 years of age.
