We Welcome Dr. Hasan Jeffries for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Author and historian Dr. Hasan Jeffries, host of the podcast Teaching Hard History: American Slavery, will join us for our slate of programming on Martin Luther King Jr. Day! At Noon on Jan. 20, Dr. Jeffries will lead a talk about Dr. King’s philosophy and vision, and share how King’s legacy endures in America today.
A graduate of Morehouse College and Duke University, Jeffries holds a Ph.D. in American history with a specialization in African American history. He is the author of Bloody Lowndes: Civil Rights and Black Power in Alabama’s Black Belt. He is also the editor of Understanding and Teaching the Civil Rights Movement, an essay collection by leading civil rights scholars on how to teach the Civil Rights Movement. Jeffries also served as the lead historian for the renovation of the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Tennessee.
