For our next Sunday Supper, we partner with 1400 Food Lab alumni Bonifacio for the traditional Filipino feast known as Kamayan.
Kamayan is a family-style meal where a communal table is covered in banana leaves and piled with heaps of rice, meat, vegetables, and more. Traditionally there is no silverware--you grab and eat everything with your hands.
True to Filipino tradition, the purpose of Kamayan dinners - and our Sunday Suppers - is to bring the community together. You may find yourself sitting beside a total stranger, but by the end of the shared dining experience, youll have made many new friends. Bonafacios Kamayan dinners have been lauded as one of the most unique dining experiences in Columbus and we are delighted to bring them to 1400 Food Lab.

Bonifacio was opened by mother and daughter team Lida and Krizzia Yanga in 2016. For Filipinos, food is always at the center of any family gathering and with a family of 8, Lida took to helping her mom in the kitchen at an early age. Growing up on a farm in a small island in the southern Philippines, there was always fresh fruit, vegetables, and seafood available which made it easy for Lida to fall in love with cooking. Hosting dinner parties and catering small events became a regular occurrence in the Yanga household and in 2015 with no formal training, she and her daughter opened Red Velvet Cafe where they started incorporating Filipino flavors into cafe fare. Eventually, they began hosting a traditional Filipino weekend brunch that filled their small 20 seat cafe to the door. This interest and excitement about Filipino food inspired them to open Bonifacio, Columbus' first full-service Filipino restaurant and bar.
