"This series of cloudscape oil paintings vary in size, palette, and intensity. Following my husband's cancer diagnosis, the subject matter resonated with me with constant changes in appearance, form, intensity and relationship to each other. In 2016 I was motivated to return to CAC to use painting to reflect and express the range of emotions I experience, which has proved to be cathartic. The clouds are the perfect metaphor: angry, peaceful, brilliant, ominous. I hope others relate to the universal themes of change, hope, suffering and peace which make up our daily existence. The clouds, though they appear, sooner or later dissipate, ever to remain part of our atmosphere, invisible, indelible. Like life, they are eternally ephemeral." - Sue VanWassenhove
