Founded on the rag-tag instrumentation of Igor Stravinsky’s L'Histoire du Soldat, New-York-based Exceptet is a seven-piece ensemble [Sarah Goldfeather (violin); Chuck Furlong (clarinet); Allison Nicotera (bassoon); Evan Honse (trumpet); Daniel Linden (trombone); David Stevens (percussion); and Brian Ellingson (double bass)] that is dedicated to commissioning today’s most compelling emerging composers. This performance includes a selection of new works written for the group, including one by Katie Balch. The members of Exceptet have performed on Broadway and at Radio City Music Hall, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Bang On A Can Marathon, the Montreal Jazz Festival, and The Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.
