An artist's reception is planned for Friday, August 10th, from 7 to 9 PM in the OAL X Space, 400 W. Rich Street, Columbus. X Space receptions are always scheduled in conjunction with Franklinton Fridays. An additional opportunity to meet the artist will be during the September 14th Franklinton Friday.
In "fellowship + solitude," artist Kelly Reichert has created a series of bold interior scenes in brilliant color. Her paintings explore the relationship of color to light, and the reflection of light on surfaces. The artist sees her work as an expression of the inner life. She relies mostly on observation translated by imagination into images that reflect the human experience of relating. Inanimate objects portray feelings and emotions, as well as situations. The viewer is invited into the scene, and can imagine what the details of the encounter might be. The stage is set for that experience.
As the artist says, “This particular series speaks to the push/pull of aloneness vs. communion. I am interested in the moments of solitude in which we think, dream, grieve, pray, reflect and process the world around us. "
