We're excited to present an evening of international folk music featuring some great local performers! Accordionist Marian Funk will be playing international party music, visiting the Balkans, Ireland, Ukraine, France, tossing out a few polkas, doing some globe hopping on her accordion. Folk Notion is a Columbus-based band that plays across many folk traditions. Abby Wagner, a violist and fiddler, is a professional musician who has studied European folk music in Austria. Lea Anne Kangas has done international folk dancing for most of her life and plays Bulgarian and Macedonian tambura, bugarija, guitar, recorder, and nyckelharpa. Genelle Denzin is a fiddler and nyckelharpist who plays across several genres. We will play Swedish, Austrian, Russian, Macedonian, and other Eastern European tunes plus a yodel! Come enjoy a night of cool interesting folk music. Doors open at 7, Show starts around 7:30. If you want to bring instruments and jam, people will likely hang around play some tunes after the show. It's a house show and we have a limited number of seats so RSVP (via the Facebook event) is kindly requested. $10-20 suggested donation (100% goes to the musicians!)
