Come for a walking tour through historic German Village!
German Village Tours offers a 90-minute walking tour every Saturday at 1 p.m., beginning April 7, 2018. We stroll about one mile, at a leisurely pace with frequent stops. You will see many of the 1,500+ historic homes and commercial buildings that make up this 233-acre historic district, and hear fascinating stories of the men and women who built it, well over a century ago.
Tours leave from (and return to) the sidewalk in front of The Book Loft, 631 S. Third St., unless otherwise noted.
In German Village, there’s a story behind every door, and you will be fascinated by every one you hear – the blacksmith whose horse stalls now seat diners at one of Central Ohio’s Top 10 restaurants … the mother of young children who, with only a horse and a scoop, dug a basement for the family’s cottage … the young Swiss man of humble origin who became the biggest hero of World War I. And there are hundreds more.
You’ll be amazed by the handiwork of these early settlers, who used native materials such as brick, timber, limestone and sandstone to build a self-contained village now listed on The National Register of Historic Places.
Come admire our brick streets and sidewalks, our immaculate private gardens and public parks, and our award-winning restaurants and shops. Take a step back in time with us this Saturday!
