Demystify Indian cooking!
Meet up at 1400 Food Lab and caravan with us to two of Chef Bidisha Nags favorite Indian markets where we will collect all the ingredients for a dinner featuring dishes from various regions of India to be prepared upon return to the Food Lab kitchens.
In scavenger-hunt-style, teams will be given clues to help them find exotic spices, unique vegetables and herbs, and all the trimmings for the meal we will cook and eat together at the end of the day. The most successful "hunter-gatherers" will take home a swag-bag of gifts and discounts from Bidisha, the markets, and 1400 Food Lab.
Back in the kitchen, Chef Bidisha will lead the class through the preparation of several of the most requested dishes from her popular cooking class series, Create Your Curry. And when its all done, well share the meal we made together along with wines and beers specially selected to complement Indian flavors.
Fluffy Basmati Rice with Ghee
Aloo Baigan (potato and eggplant curry)
Masoor Daal Sambar (South Indian lentil soup with curry leaves, gourd and other fresh vegetables)

Meet the Chef:
Bidisha Nag holds a Ph.D. in Cultural and Human Geography and has held several faculty positions in the U.S. As a child she had traveled around the world on ships with her family. When she first moved to the U.S., Bidisha began to offer Indian cooking classes in her home as a way to get to know her neighbors and colleagues and took the concept with her as she relocated to new states and cities. The classes were so popular, she started a business - Create Your Curry. Today, Bidisha offers twice-monthly classes at 1400 Food Lab as well as private classes in her clients homes. Recently, her story was published in the Foreign Policy Project podcast on Culinary Diplomacy and 614 Magazine.
