COSI’s Insider Science Series features prominent speakers to address science’s most cutting edge questions about natural history, transformative research, humanity’s current challenges, and beyond. Join us after-hours to hear from the experts, grab a drink or a snack at our cash bar, and as always, experience fun, hands-on science!

Featured Gallery: Crocs: Ancient Predators in a Modern World
Speaker: Dr. Mark Flint, The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine

The American alligator was one of the first 10 species listed on the Endangered Species Act when it was first passed in 1973. 45 short years later this once-imperiled species is a conservation success story of recovery. It now sustainably supports a global industry that in-turn puts resources back in to the conservation of other species throughout the southern United States.

Insider Science Series will highlight one of COSI's galleries, paired with a scientist currently conducting research or working in that field. Experience our galleries in a whole new way through a 20 - 30 minute presentation from our keynote speaker, followed by an open Q&A session in the atrium. With both our featured gallery and the cash bar open for the entire evening, there will be plenty of time for exploration, games, and tabletop science. Tickets may be bought in advance or at the door, but as seats are limited, we recommend advanced registration!
