Tuesday, July 16

Tuesday, July 23

This course is designed to give students a foundational understanding of basic metalsmithing skills and will serve as a prerequisite for Intermediate Level classes offered at our studio.

The first three classes will be technique heavy as each student creates a riveted silhouette pendant/keychain from copper or brass and a sterling band ring.

The following two classes will be studio time with guided help as students work on an independent project of their design, combining techniques they have learned. Students will leave class with finished pieces and samples.

Students will learn to use a jewelers saw, hand files, texturing with hammers and the rolling mill, cold connections using rivets, silver torch soldering, forming tools, metal stamping, flex shaft, bench tools and more. We will discuss safe practices for working in the studio.

Attendance to the first three classes is mandatory as these classes will be full of techique demos and practice that cannot be repeated.
