Central Ohio graphic designer and artist Mike Graziani exhibits a selection of his abstract paintings at Highline Coffee Art Space in Worthington, November 1-December 2, 2019. An artist reception is scheduled for Saturday, November 9, 3-5pm.
Graziani’s exploration and interest in art began early. Born and raised in Chicago, he loved the energy of living in a busy city where art seemed to be everywhere. The graffiti scene, at an all-time high, drew him in immediately. Heavily influenced by the Windy City and his surroundings, he began to express his creativity through several mediums, including painting, sketching, and pastel drawings.
“What moves and inspires me to paint usually comes from either the places I have visited or music,” Graziani explains. “I try to capture and interpret a lake, a building, or a song through abstract painting. That’s how I see things, how I decide to layer the paint, and how I capture the mood.”
After graduating from the Academy of Design and Technology with a degree in advertising and design, Graziani worked at a couple of ad agencies in downtown Chicago. Later, he jumped at the opportunity to expand his professional career in San Francisco. The vibrant culture of the Bay Area and his West Coast travels played a pivotal role in future creative endeavors.
Now, as a graphic designer in Columbus, Graziani continues to refine his visual art and design skills. “Painting is a welcome balance to the digital focus of my day job,” Graziani reveals.
“Mike’s expressive abstracts are a delight to see,” says Christie Bruffy, owner and manager of Highline Coffee Co. “We’re happy that he’s showing his interpretative work in the Art Space as we continue our commitment to exhibiting the diverse work of our talented area artists.”
