“Each day layers over the previous ones, obscuring, emphasizing, smoothing and sometimes snagging on what came before. What’s on top is shaped and supported by what’s underneath, but the top layer is nonetheless where we are, what we see.” – Bidwa & Emery
Elizabeth A. Emery is Cleveland-based and currently an artist-in-residence in FRONT International: Cleveland Triennial. She and Columbus’ Laura Bidwa conceived Overlying to invite consideration of the connection between straightforward physicality and our subjective experiences of time. This is their second exhibition together.
