Marks made on paper, paper the receptive understatement... life requires carbon. From these simple ideas Ann Silverman and Katherine Cox have created a broad-ranging exhibition where their mark making opens up the world and touches the human spirit. Silverman considers the making of paper from natural materials to be an almost magical process. Paper begins with a plant and some water and, at the end, offers itself to the writer, to the artist and to industry. Cox notes that life requires carbon - marks made by pencil and ink require carbon. From these building blocks of cellulose and graphite, people have shared their feelings, their research and their imaginations with each other. Opening Reception is Friday, February 16, 2018 from 6-8 p.m.!
