Global Gifts, located at 682 N. High Street in the Short North Arts District, is holding a Quilling Card Make and Take Event on July 28, 2018 from 12-2pm. All supplies are provided with a $15 fee and Fair Trade coffee samples and baked goods from the Womens Bean Project will be available for tasting. Bring your friends and family to learn how to quill and take home your own quilling card.
Whether you have experience in quilling or not, all are welcome to participate. After a brief introduction to the art and history of quilling, choose from an assortment of card designs and a Global Gifts staff member will guide you as you create your own card. Feel free to make more than one and use your creation as a gift for your friends or to keep for yourself!
Quilling is the art of rolling, coiling, and shaping small strips of paper to create a three-dimensional design and has been practiced for centuries. Global Gifts is proud to carry handmade quilling cards by artisans from the Quilling Card organization based in Vietnam. Quilling Card employs over 100 local adult women quillers who receive fair wages and work in safe conditions. Today, Quilling Card has become a source of preserving and sharing this beautiful art form.
