VSA Ohio and partners present the 2018 ReelAbilities Film Festival in Columbus at the Gateway Film Center with free screenings of award-winning films and local presentations that celebrate the lives, stories, and art of people with disabilities. ReelAbilities Film Festival in Columbus is free and open to the public with bi-monthly screenings January through November 2018. 


Fifteen films including full-length features and shorts addressing some of the many facets of the disability experience will be screened, coming from the US and abroad. Columbus is one of 16 cities in the States to present the traveling program of the New York Reelabilities Film Festival. ReelAbilities brings the community together to explore, discuss and celebrate the diversity of our shared human experience. 


Wednesday January 17, 2018 is our first screening! Tramontane by director Vatche Boulghourjian with artists from Lebanon, France, Qatar, and United Emirates. Rahib: a musician who is blind travels across Lebanon in search of his birth record. He meets people on the far fringes of society who tell their own stories and open further questions about his own origins. 


Matinee : 10:30am
Kick-off event : 6:00pm social hour in the Gateway's Torpedo Room, live performance by Innervision, film at 7:00pm

ReelAbilities Film Festival Columbus is presented by VSA Ohio, the state organization on arts and disability. VSA Ohio is a non-profit organization. The touring program is sponsored by the ReelAbilities Film Festival and JCC Manhattan, Greater Columbus Arts Council, Puffin Foundation, Ohio Alliance for Arts Education, Friends of VSA Ohio, Ohio Arts Council, The Columbus Foundation and in partnership with Gateway Film Center, Illuminating: Ohio State Film Studies, Nicolette Cinematographics, Food for Good Thought, Southeast Inc. Healthcare Services, Fresh A.I.R. Gallery and local artists.
