(Not) Sheep gallery will be hosting an art show from January 5th, 2019 to January 31st, 2019 featuring the works of Priscilla Roggenkamp and Lynn Riding. The event will be held at the Gallery’s location at 17 West Russell Street in the Short North. Works featured in the show will attempt to provoke discussion on outdated ideologies primarily stemming from the Southern United States.

Riding’s work for the show, titled “Reflections While South,” expresses a desire to speak out about the cotton industry and the history of oppression associated with it. She draws upon similar occurrences in her home country of Wales in order to raise awareness about the brutality of the industry within an international context. By doing so, she hopes that her work will convey a message of shifting perspectives and “ever-enduring hope.”

Roggenkamp’s work, "Keepers of the Faith," focuses on the human form as a vessel for carrying opinions and habits through life. In her own words, Roggenkamp states:

"The tops of these forms are fashioned after clothes pin bags, a utilitarian device that becomes dress-like and a stand in for the figure."

In this way, she attempts to bring about a discussion of contradictory tendencies in human behavior, specifically focusing on religious extremism and superiority.

Roggenkamp will also be performing with her band, "Rock, Salt and Nails," during the Gallery Hop on January 5th from 6-8pm.

Guests attending the exhibit will be able to see these pieces up-close and personal in the gallery space, and are invited to participate in discussions revolving around the topic. Additionally, artists Sue Cavanaugh and Katherine Adkins will have pieces on display throughout the duration of the show.
