Soul Sunday continues at Natalie’s with the dynamic Renee Dion and special guests Mistar Anderson. Renee’s soulful sound can be heard on music blogs across the web, on albums by alternative soul icons and in clubs and festivals from her hometown of Columbus to New York City. In her simmering new album, HAVEN, Renee found her soul trappings and produced her own project with the help of musical genius Jonathan Baker on some of the tracks. Renee has crafted a delicate safe space of honest music creating a home within her lyrics and detailing patience through some of life’s harsh and gorgeous transitions as God’s child, a woman and an artist.
Mistar Anderson is a Columbus-based homegrown hip-hop band formed in 2012. They recently released their new self-titled album and this amazing funk n soul, jazz hip-hop fusion band comes complete with drums, keys, bass, guitar, an emcee and horns. The album was recorded live in the studio with hints of improvisation, and the chemistry is undeniable on the record itself and at live performances all over their hometown.
The monthly Soul Sunday evening shows are coordinated and hosted by the talented Paisha Thomas. Paisha is a locally based entertainer who engages others through art with her singing and songwriting. She creates music about love, politics, self-discovery and the condition of the world.
