Columbus International Children's Choir and Columbus Symphony musicians will perform the gem of Baroque music, Stabat Mater by Giovanni Pergolesi (1710-1736). The fraternity of S. Luigi di Palazzo commissioned Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater (ca. 1730) to replace Alessandro Scarlatti’s which was performed traditionally on Good Friday. Bach adapted this work and performed it. Pergolesi remained optimistic and continued to compose to the very end in spite of tuberculosis, which took him at the age of 26.
Soloists: Cynthia Mahoney – soprano, Carolyn Redman – mezzo soprano.
