Avarice and angst! Bad guys and boxers! Crooks and cigarettes! Darkness and dames! We are a library, after all, so it's only fair that we alphabetize these noir flicks for your convenience, don't you think? 05/01: The Asphalt Jungle (1950): Can't get enough of Marilyn Monroe? Catch her in this quintessential heist film directed by John Huston. 05/08: Body and Soul (1947): Robert Rossen directs John Garfield and Lilli Palmer in this look at the seedy underbelly of boxing. 05/15: Caught (1949): James Mason, Barbara Bel Geddes and noir stalwart Robert Ryan star in this dark melodrama directed by Max Ophuls. 05/22: The Damned Don't Cry (1950): Joan Crawford plays a really sweet and demure young woman who...who are we kidding? It's Joan Crawford, for crying out loud! This time she's a social climber who gets involved with gangsters.
