7:30pm Pre-concert talk
The Early Interval celebrates the 400th anniversary of composer Barbara Strozzis birth with a program of music by women composers of the Baroque period. In addition to lyrical Italian pieces for soprano by Strozzi, the concert includes vocal and instrumental chamber music by French composer Elisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre. For this program, The Early Interval features the sounds of recorder, violin, theorbo, and viola da gamba, and will be joined by guest harpsichordist Alexandra Snyder Dunbar.
The Early Interval was formed in 1976 and has performed medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque music for audiences all over Ohio and beyond. The ensemble performs vocally and on early wind, string, keyboard, and percussion instruments. The group has engaged in a wide variety of collaborations with actors and theater companies, dance companies, vocal ensembles, narrators, composers, and guest instrumentalists.
