On a windy dark night in rural Ireland, a fortuitous meeting in a remote pub brings about the spiritual awakening of a mourning mother. First performed in 1997, Conor McPherson's play has garnered many awards but more importantly, the hearts and minds of theatergoers around the world. The evening is a clever use of ghost stories (and fairies!) and the competitive and protective nature of men. For families considering the show for young audiences (and others, of course): the play contains profanity, but its themes are ghosts, spirits, grief, and the power of the supernatural.
