"This is my new Shining Sea Series, a variation on my Water Series. I'm interested in the distortions of reflected and refracted light on water. My intention is abstraction while alluding to a seascape.
This newest work has deeper and different texture. It is organic and undulating, with illusions of depth and motion. They are very lustrous, almost like polished metals. When lit, the reflective quality of this undulating surface makes them sparkle like sunlight on water with a lit-from-within glow." -Tim Harding
Tim Harding is internationally known for his large-scale textiles, which he creates out of colorful Chinese silks and other vibrant materials. After working in painting and photography in college, he became intrigued with the intimacy and complex cultural ties of the fiber medium. Harding's work can now be found around the world in museums and private collections, including the Smithsonian-Renwick Gallery, Washington DC, Cooper-Hewitt Museum, New York, Boston Museum of Art, Racine Museum of Art, and the San Francisco Museum of Art. Tim Harding resides in Minnesota where he has maintained a studio for over 30 years.
