Part of our free and low-cost Zoom programs for families, Wex Wide Open invites audiences of all ages to experience what our dynamic, multidisciplinary arts center has to offer.
Explore the current exhibition HERE: Ann Hamilton, Jenny Holzer, Maya Lin in our galleries with “quickie” tours and gallery hunts. Make your own mixed-media art using found language, images, and other materials with artist Bobby T Luck. Take part in a whistling workshop with world champion Emily Eagen. Look inside our legendary Film/Video Studio where hundreds of artists have created or completed their work. And, in honor of the Wexner Center’s 30th Anniversary, take in a free screening of Little Man Tate (1991), starting at 1 PM in the Film/Video Theater. Partially filmed on location at the Wex, Jodie Foster’s directorial debut tells the story of a gifted boy (Adam Hann-Byrd) and his single mother (Foster), who struggles to find him the resources he needs to blossom to his full potential. (99 mins., 35mm)
As part of Ann Hamilton’s project featured in HERE, when an object reaches for your hand, the artist invites the public to bring objects from their own lives (a stone from a window ledge, a special gift, an old spoon, a figurine) to be digitally captured with early generation scanners. There are also opportunities to pose for her ongoing portrait series O N E E V E R Y O N E. The images may appear in a forthcoming publication commemorating Ohio State’s 150th anniversary. See the calls for participation below for details.
