Did you know one of Columbus’ best assets is its walkability? From the convention center, you’ll be in the heart of downtown with a wide variety of entertainment, dining and nightlife options all just a few steps away. Whether you’re looking to shop hop through the Short North, dine in the lively Arena District or stroll through the beautiful Goodale Park, we always like to recommend our favorite mode of transportation; your feet!

Fortunately, if you’d like to get out of downtown (or just off your feet), Columbus also offers endless transportation options that are affordable, fun and good for the environment.

Autonomous Shuttles

If you’re interested in experiencing the transportation technologies of the future, take a ride on Smart Circuit, Ohio’s first self-driving electric shuttle system. The autonomous shuttles offer free rides on a 1.5-mile circulating route, stopping at COSI, National Veterans Memorial and Museum, Bicentennial Park and the Smart Columbus visitor center. You’ll receive hands-on education about the capabilities of autonomous vehicle technology, as well as a great view of the Scioto Mile and the Columbus skyline! Discover why local media are saying, “riding the self-driving shuttle is low-key the coolest thing in Columbus.”

CoGo Bike Share

CoGo bikes are a fun and inexpensive way to get around town. Just unlock one of the 600 bikes from across the city, ride to your next destination and return the bike to the nearest automated station for someone else to use. It’s that easy! Before your stay, download the TransitApp on your Android or iPhone to find nearby stations and see real-time bike and dock availability. You can also purchase a day pass ($8) or three-day pass ($18) for unlimited rides and sights.

Electric Scooters

If you’re looking for a quick way to get around without all the legwork, try a Lime or Bird Scooter. You’ll find these speedy, electric scooters scattered throughout the city for accessible and convenient mobility. Just download the app to your smart phone, look for a scooter location, scan the QR code and you’re off. The scooters cost $1 to unlock and 15 cents for every minute you ride, without the hassle of time restraints or docking stations. Hold on tight because these puppies are fast!

CBUS

Hop on the city’s free, downtown circulator for quick access to each of our “Five on High” districts. The CBUS travels from the Brewery District through downtown to Victorian Village and back again, allowing visitors and residents to experience all the vibrant and diverse neighborhoods that sit on a five-mile stretch of High Street. The CBUS runs every 10-15 minutes, 7 days a week. Look for the blue, CBUS Circulator signs right outside the convention center for your next adventure.

Ride Sharing

We all know and love the capabilities of Lyft and Uber. If you have a few hours to spare and you’re hoping to explore the various attractions outside of downtown, these ride sharing options are extremely accessible and affordable in Columbus, where almost everything is within a 15-minute drive.

C-pass

Did you know you can explore all Columbus has to offer for only $20? The Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) and Capital Crossroads SID are offering a transit package to all 2019 ASAE attendees. This mobile ticket includes roundtrip express from John Glenn International Airport to downtown, the convention center and nearby hotels. The pass will also include unlimited access to all COTA’s transportation systems during your stay. Register for your C-pass today at asae.downtowncpass.com.
