Prepare to journey back to a slower and simpler time when you step into Nutcracker 50's Family Restaurant. This authentic 50's style diner is just outside Columbus and is short 18 miles from Port Columbus Airport. A great place to grab breakfast, lunch, or dinner, or simply relax over a fresh cup of coffee and a slice of Nancy's Homemade Pie. This full service diner has much to offer with a full menu. We serve Breakfast all day, have Blue Plate Specials, all you can eat weekday dinners, a 40 person Party Room, Amish Chocolates, Krema Nuts, Johnsons Ice Cream, and a 1900's Candy Shop offering candies from your childhood. It is worth noting that Nutcracker has become known for the homemade pies made by Nancy and Grandma Lynd of Lynd's Orchard as well as our Lynd's Applesauce.
Nutcracker is celebrating its 20th year in business and is proud to have been selected by the Ohio Restaurant Assoc. for its 2014 Outstanding Community Service Award for our ongoing work for Veteran's and our community efforts. Nutcracker began as a 1900's style Candy and Ice Cream Parlor in Levi Streets' (popular former Mayor) old shoe shop in downtown Pataskala. Three years later we moved to a 1950's Broad St. building which has always served this community as a restaurant.
Over the past 20 years the mom & pop owners, Steve & Nancy Butcher, have turned the restaurant into a local gathering place. Tragedy struck when a local police officer discovered the fire in the early morning of Jan 1st, 2005 and in spite of tremendous efforts by Firefighters, the building was a complete loss.
After the fire, the residents and friends stepped forward and helped the Butchers rebuild the business into the gleaming 1950's Diner you find today. Even local grade school students got involved by collecting spare milk money and purchased the replacement Nutcracker standing at our entrance while the community created a fund to assist our employee's while rebuilding. The restaurant is weaved into the fabric of the community and the Butchers are blessed by the love and support of residents and friends. Steve was elected in 2006 and served as Mayor for 8 years and now he and Nancy work fulltime together as mom and pop proprietors.
Nutcracker is open Sun & Mon from 7 am to 2 pm and Tues thru Sat 7 am to 8 pm. An easy drive we are located between State Routes 161 and I -70 at the intersection of State Routes 16 & 310, at 63 E. Broad St in the heart of Pataskala. Major credit cards accepted!
